02/02/11 Meeting
(1) Discuss Title for the gallery Show
(2) Photoshop Tutorial

(1) Possible titles for the show were suggested. The title cannot contain any sort of profanity including the acronym for the club, D.A.M.N. Tentative title for the show is "Interface."
(2) Josh went over non-destructive photoshop editing using adjustment layers and masks.

01/26/11 Meeting
(1) FACC Money
(2) Equipment Storage
(3) Tutorial Schedule

(1) Money approved for the list of items we created. Next meeting we will price things to buy and then divide the spending among group members.
(2) Since D.A.M.N is accumulating a lot of different equipment useful for digital media projects and the protection of the equipment is necessary to make it available for future members, Prez. Adam is working out a storage area that will be locked but accessible to active members of the club. Members should remember that in order to use the equipment they must use their best judgement in its use as well as contributing back to the club in both attendance and participation.
(3) In order to mine the collective knowledge of the club, members will be giving tutorials on key programs like Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Final Cut, etc. These tutorials will be useful in collaboratively creating posters advertising the club and the gallery show, as well as helping sophomores in the weeks before portfolios are due (such as the creation of a website portfolio with help from a Dreamweaver tutorial).

10/20/10 Meeting
(1) FACC Money
(2) ArtBash
(3) Recruiting
(4) DMA Space

(1) The final meeting with the BOCC went well. Now we just have to wait for our SAR to be approved online. The next meeting we will discuss how to divide the purchasing, especially for the big ticket items.
(2) As for ArtBash, we need to prepare different t-shirt designs to print for sale during the event. I think the best course of action would definitely be to use used shirts (Salvation Army has ridiculously inexpensive used shirts, so we could get a range of sizes, styles, and colors). Brian is planning on doing custom block people, probably with an upper limit of the number of people he can make (the amount of time to do each person, the frequency of 3D printing). We need to do some advertising so that we get more traffic in the DMA area, so posters and maybe projected ads at night. Keychain designs also need to be solidified so that we can print them out as soon as we get the plexi.
(3) In order to draw more people to DAMN, a couple of activities have been suggested:
- More weekly projects, like a small scale video project that we only worry about when we are in meetings
- Tutorials, even small stuff - anything useful to know in our medium
- Table sitting in the Colonade at the Reitz
- More posters around campus to draw people outside of art
- Outside activities, like mini field trips, or group activities (bowling, skating, laser tag, etc)
- Off campus meetings
- Z-Day, to infect other people
- Marathons of tv shows, game playing days
(4) Also, we need to make the DMA space look really awesome, importantly for ArtBash, but just for general everyday meetings as well. This will make us look serious about what we are doing.

9/22/10 Meeting

Discussion Points
(1) "What Would Adam Do?"
(2) WARPkids
(3) Games
(4) Z-Day

(1) Adam, the President, showed us one of his finished pieces which he made using very DMA tools - a 3D scanner (specifically a headscanner from last year), 3D modelling tools (Maya), the rapid prototyping machine (3D printer), the laser cutter, and some simple circuitry work.

(2) We then discussed contacting Bethany so she can inform the WARP students about DAMN meetings.

(3) Then we played the minimal video games that the Digital Media Workshop students made in the blackbox.

(4) Initial plans for Z-Day were discussed.

This meeting was largely a presentation of Adam's work.

9/15/10 Meeting

Discussion Points
(1) Funding
(2) Activities
(3) ArtBash

(1) We discussed proposals for things we might want or need this year for DAMN. Our brainstorming came up with several items we might want:
-A greenscreen (either fabric, paint, or as someone suggested painting one of those never-used projector screens)
-A decent lighting kit
-Soundproofing
-HD projector
-Speaker system
-Possible field trips such as Art Basel (http://www.artbaselmiamibeach.com/)

(2) We came up with a list of possible meeting activities
-Demonstrations, such as how to use the sound booth, etc
-Web-based tutorials (Dreamweaver, Flash, etc)
-Visit a game studio in town
-Other DMA tutorials (Maya, Unity, etc)
-Presentations of artists works* (not a critique, per se, just valuable outside input)

*This has already been started, to get on the list email or talk to Pres. Adam T.

(3) As ArtBash grows nearer still, we must continue to work on building a cohesive presentation of our work and our department. The majority of the work planned is game related, so any further manifestations of that idea are welcome. We are hoping to have The Game (a project started for last year's ArtBash), several other small art games, a greenscreen space, and possibly chiptune music playing in a very flashy way. Also the plans to have a fundraising table are still in the works, so any more ideas concerning that are welcome.

Next meeting - Adam is first in the presentation of work!

9/8/10 Meeting

Discussion Points
(1) ArtBash
(2) Fundraising
(3) Possible Field Trips

(1) I couldn't find the date of ArtBash this year, so I don't believe they've picked one yet. But looking at how it has been the past couple years, probably mid-November. We want to complete the Game, so at the next meeting Adam G. will start giving out assignments to volunteers and set a schedule so that it gets completed in time. The possible theme could be an Arcade, with other small games mixed in with other projects - an arcade is just an example of some sort of unifying theme, the group can always change it.

(2) We discussed the possibility of fundraising for DAMN through T-shirts and other Digital Media related things. Some suggestions for items to sell were: screen-printed shirts, laser cut objects, and the Game on discs. Aside from fundraising, writing up proposals to get special request money for specific goals: a greenscreen, proper lights, and paper for a possible Art Bash project.

(3) Also possible to get funding for, field trips. Art Basel was the biggest suggestion ( http://www.artbaselmiamibeach.com/ ) and it happens in early December. Smaller local trips would be to Digital Worlds and the CISE head-scanner lab.

Lots of things were discussed but the biggest difference we can make this year is getting the ball rolling by starting these projects and scheduling them out NOW. Assigning other days for project work might be a good idea - like having a Friday where we work in the studio all day, then end it with ordering pizza and using the projector to watch a movie (like the epic Star Trek game-working session, except better). We've got to keep motivated!
